Powering the World
This lesson, “Powering the World,” provides a comprehensive and student-centered approach to teaching fundamental energy concepts. The three-station model allows for a flexible classroom setup where students work collaboratively to explore different aspects of global energy. The lesson is interactive and inquiry-based, integrating videos, quizzes, data analysis, and the Claim, Evidence, Reasoning (CER) framework. Students develop critical thinking and argumentation skills as they analyze global energy data, evaluate essential uses of electricity, and weigh the trade-offs of different energy sources. The lesson concludes with an optional peer review activity, encouraging collaboration and reinforcing learning through constructive feedback.
