Fresh water, one of our most precious resources, is limited. Water conservation is crucial, and while direct methods like turning off the tap are important, we can also save water by conserving energy. Since energy production and manufacturing rely heavily on water, cutting back on energy and consumption has a big impact. Explore these vital connections in our water conservation lab, where students will learn how energy savings contribute to protecting our water supply.
To introduce students to the topic of energy efficiency, Switch Classroom lessons Energy Efficiency in the Home, has three short, engaging foundational video clips: Efficiency Primer, Benefits of Efficiency and Implementing Efficiency. One or all three can be shown to students before starting the lab to get students thinking and talking about the importance and impact of conservation practices. The attached lesson activities can also be assigned to expand on the topic and help students dive deeper into the topic of energy efficiency.
