The most popular NGSS and APES-aligned lesson in January was “The Energy Mix,” including the How We Make and Use Energy introductory video, which had over 17k views! In this lesson Scott Tinker takes students on a fascinating and compelling exploration of the different energy sources and their impacts.
Engaging supplemental materials include a bell ringer, exit ticket and a reading passage with visuals and information that expand on the main topic. This NGSS and APES-aligned lesson is a consistent favorite among teachers to kick off energy units, including APES Unit 6. Teachers can decide whether to plug students in to all eight of the activities provided or pick and choose one or more of the activities to assign based on time and grade-level considerations.
