Meet Isabella Liu: Toronto Science Teacher and TAC Member
We’re excited to welcome Isabella Liu to the Switch Classroom Teacher Advisory Council!
Isabella teaches in Toronto, Ontario, which makes her our first TAC member representing Canada’s largest city and its school system, which serves some of the most diverse student populations in the world. That context shapes how she thinks about science education, and it’s a perspective we’ve been looking for.
A Teacher Who Bridges the Classroom and the Bigger Picture
Isabella has spent over a decade teaching secondary science both in Ontario and internationally, with a focus on IB and AP Chemistry. She’s not just experienced with the content, she’s well-versed in the high-stakes, exam-driven courses where teachers need resources that hold up under pressure.
What sets Isabella apart is that her work doesn’t stop at the classroom door. She collaborates with schools and organizations on curriculum design, professional learning, and thoughtful technology integration. She thinks carefully about what it looks like when new tools genuinely improve teaching, rather than just add noise to an already full plate.
A Little More About Isabella
Isabella balances a full professional life with a love of travel, outdoor exploration, and learning. Whether she’s exploring a new city, picking up a new skill, or working on a creative project, she brings the same curiosity to her personal life that she brings to her teaching.
What She’s Working On
Isabella has been helping educators think through how to approach emerging technologies, including AI tools, in ways that are thoughtful rather than reactive. She’s also designing learning experiences that connect science to real-world and career contexts, building professional learning opportunities for teachers, and sharing resources through her own platform to support educators beyond her own school.
Why We’re Excited to Learn With Isabella
Isabella’s focus on technology and science education brings something distinct to the Switch Classroom team. As AI tools become part of the conversation in more and more schools, having a TAC member who has studied that space carefully makes her voice especially useful.
She’s also deeply interested in how science learning can be made more accessible to a wider range of students. This shows up in the courses she teaches, the professional learning she designs, and the questions she keeps coming back to.
We’re building more resources to support Ontario teachers and the Canadian curriculum, and Isabella’s classroom experience will help us make sure those resources reflect what teachers here actually need.
Welcome to the Team, Isabella
We’re glad to have her perspective as part of the TAC. You’ll be seeing her influence on Switch Classroom resources in the months ahead, and we’re excited for what we’ll build together.
Welcome, Isabella. We’re glad you’re here!
