Northern Michigan Homeschool Science Event

Event Description:
Switch Classroom will host a free homeschool science resource event at Redeemer Church in Interlochen, Michigan, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 9. The event brings free, ready-to-use science resources to homeschool families across Northern Michigan.
Switch Classroom will offer free take-home activity kits built for families:
- Play-Doh Circuits — build working circuits with Play-Doh, LEDs, and a battery, then test everyday materials for conductivity
- Chain Reaction in a Box — model how one collision multiplies with beads, timers, and predictions
- Mining and Land Reclamation — run a mining company with play money, then restore the land
- Build a Windmill — design, test, and redesign a small turbine
Each kit includes materials, a student guide, and a teacher guide with step-by-step instructions for facilitating. Activities cover hands-on physical science, chemistry, and engineering design for elementary through high school, with ways to adapt each one up or down.
The event is free with no registration needed. Drop in anytime during the hour. Kits are available while supplies last.
