NCSTA Conference
Event Dates: November 12–13, 2026
Location: Benton Convention Center, Winston-Salem, North Carolina
Event Description:
Switch Classroom will present at NCSTA’s 2026 Professional Development Institute, hosted by the North Carolina Science Teachers Association at the Benton Convention Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, November 12–13. This year’s theme is “Making Connections in the Science Classroom.”
Ben Schosek, a Switch Classroom Teacher Advisory Council member, will represent Switch Classroom at the Share-a-Thon, an informal resource-swap format where educators browse tables and pick up ready-to-use classroom materials.
Ben will also present one conference session:
- Sources to Solutions: Teaching Energy Tradeoffs and Decisions
Strand: Connecting Teaching and Learning Using Assessment
Help students move beyond memorizing energy sources to making real-world decisions. Participants explore energy resources through a gallery walk, evaluate key tradeoffs, and apply their understanding to scenario-based challenges. Focused on strategies for upper elementary through high school, this session builds critical thinking, discussion, and decision-making skills for your energy unit.
Leave with free, classroom-ready resources and practical ideas you can use right away. Conference sessions are open to registered NCSTA PDI attendees.
