ECU STEM Symposium
Event Dates: July 29, 2026
Location: Greenville, North Carolina
Event Description:
Switch Classroom will present at the 2026 ECU STEM Symposium, hosted by East Carolina University’s College of Engineering and Technology and the Center for STEM Education in Greenville, North Carolina. The symposium brings together K–12 educators, postsecondary faculty, and workforce partners on Wednesday, July 29, for hands-on sessions, networking, and a vendor and resource expo.
Ruthann McComb, a North Carolina science teacher and Switch Classroom team member, will lead two hands-on sessions:
- Zap! Squish! Light It Up! Play-Doh Circuits for Grades 4–12. Participants use Play-Doh, LEDs, and batteries to explore conductivity, resistance, and series versus parallel circuits with Switch Classroom’s Intro to Electricity lesson.
- Catch the Breeze! Build & Test Windmills with Recycled Materials. Participants build and test working windmill designs using everyday materials, connecting wind energy concepts to engineering practice.
Sessions are open to registered STEM Symposium attendees.
