Event details

Description

Agricultural practices show up everywhere in your course: soil, water, land use, food systems. What’s harder to find is a real case study that shows students how those pieces connect on actual land. That’s what this webinar delivers.

Join Switch Classroom and the Kansas Geological Survey on Tuesday, December 1st from 7:00 to 8:30 PM CST for a free evening webinar on the impacts of agricultural practices. Dr. Blair Schneider, Research Project Manager with the Kansas Geological Survey, will walk through a case study of the High Plains Aquifer, the groundwater system beneath western Kansas, then connect it directly to where it fits in your curriculum:

  • APES Unit 5 (sustainable agriculture)
  • Agriculture courses
  • Environmental science

We’ll also share free, editable Switch Classroom resources you can use alongside it, including our biofuels lessons.

Giveaways: Attend live to win one of our webinar giveaways:

  • $25 Amazon gift card
  • Classroom set of Specimania, KGS’s specimen identification game. It works as an ecosystem review for APES Units 1 and 2 or as a start-of-year activity.

Can’t make it live? Register anyway. The recording and slides go out to everyone who signs up.
