Introduction

In this activity, you’ll take on the role of a stakeholder in a simulated town hall about a local decision related to nuclear energy. Your group will research, develop a position, and engage in a structured discussion with other community members to evaluate the risks, benefits, and trade-offs of a proposed action.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this simulation, you will be able to:

  1. Evaluate multiple perspectives on nuclear energy by analyzing stakeholder viewpoints and trade-offs.
  2. Develop and defend a structured, evidence-based argument based on your assigned stakeholder’s role and priorities.
  3. Collaborate and engage in respectful, civil discourse to explore complex community decisions.
  4. Reflect on how values, evidence, and identity influence real-world policy and science decisions.
