Science of the Electric Grid – Data Set
Summary
Students analyze a real EIA graph of U.S. electricity generation by source over three days in December 2025, then answer six questions that move from pattern recognition to grid planning and systems thinking. They examine variability in wind and solar, the balancing role of natural gas, and what large-scale battery storage could change. Works well for APES Unit 6, high school Earth science, or any energy unit that includes data analysis and grid literacy.
