Science of Oil – Data Set

Summary

Students analyze oil production data (2000 to 2023) for eleven major producing countries, then respond to five discussion questions covering the U.S. shale boom, environmental trade-offs, economic and geopolitical factors, and long-range energy strategy. A good fit for high school Earth science, AP Human Geography, or any energy unit that asks students to work with real data and form evidence-based arguments.
