Science of Coal – Computation

Summary

Students analyze IEA data on global coal consumption from 2023 to 2027 to practice percentage change, per capita calculations, and data interpretation in an energy context. Six computational questions walk through regional trends for China, India, ASEAN, the U.S., and the EU. A good fit for high school math, Earth science, or APES where quantitative reasoning with real-world data is part of the course.
