National Energy Issues Debate

Summary

Students take a structured position in a classroom debate on real national energy policy questions, from fossil fuel regulation to nuclear capacity to pipeline approvals. The two-part format covers research and debate execution, with student handouts, a debate planner, and an example rubric included. Works across high school social studies, science, or CTE courses where energy, policy, and argumentation intersect. An optional letter-writing extension gives students a way to connect the debate to civic action.
