Summary

Students analyze a stacked area chart of global natural gas consumption by region from 1965 to 2023, then respond to five guided questions covering trends, regional comparisons, and the economic, political, and technological factors behind consumption shifts. The open-ended fifth question asks students to generate and answer their own question from the data. Works well as a graph literacy exercise in any energy unit at middle school, high school, or APES level.
