Energy Demand and Scale – Data Set

Summary

Students analyze seasonal electricity demand curves to explore how grid operators balance base load, intermediate load, and peak load sources throughout the day. Eight open-response questions move from graph interpretation to broader thinking about energy access and grid management. Works well for high school Earth and Environmental Science, APES, or any energy unit that includes data analysis and graphing skills.
