APES Objectives – Unit 0

Summary

Unit 0 is an introduction to the structure of the AP Environmental Science course itself. It outlines the Science Practices, the Big Ideas, and the Required Legislation that students will encounter throughout the year. The science practices detail the skills students need to master, such as Concept Explanation, Data Analysis, and Proposing Environmental Solutions. The big ideas provide a conceptual foundation for the course, including topics like Energy Transfer, Interactions Between Earth Systems, and Sustainability. Although required legislation is introduced in this unit, teachers are encouraged to revisit and integrate specific laws as they become relevant in other units.
